When Prairie Hospice Society received a donation of tickets to the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, we immediately thought of two of our clients. They had always loved music and being part of the life and energy of Saskatoon. Like so many people living with a life-limiting illness, they still wanted to experience the things that brought them joy—but the planning, transportation, and physical effort becomes overwhelming.
With the generosity of this donation, the creativity of our staff, and the kindness of two of our incredible volunteers, what seemed impossible became possible.
Together, they spent a beautiful evening along the South Saskatchewan River, surrounded by music, laughter, and community. It wasn’t just a concert. It was a chance to feel connected, to be part of the world, to make new memories, and to simply enjoy being alive. That is what companionship is all about.
This is the impact of community. A donated ticket became a shared experience. A volunteer became a companion. A simple evening became a lasting memory.
