Suzanne Sheppard

Suzanne’s varied career in health sciences began as a research scientist and ended as a Director in the SHA. As a physical therapist, she focussed on the creation of programs directed to those suffering from chronic diseases, such as Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Live Well with Chronic Condition program among others. She was recognized for this with the 2005 Saskatoon YWCA Women of Distinction Award in Health and a 2008 Saskatchewan HealthCare Excellence Award for Innovative Treatment or Technology.

Suzanne was a Director for the national Physiotherapy Research Foundation (2005-2011) and the Physiotherapy Association of Canada (2004-2008). Key focusses of her work have always been the importance of evidence-based practices and of both quantitative and qualitative outcomes to guide health programming. Since retiring in 2018, she has focussed on palliative care.
